Advanced Coaching Skills: Systemic Mapping

2 Day Programme

Suitable for: Coaches, OD facilitators, & HR practitioners.
Course fee, including Systemic Mapping tool kit, lunch & refreshments: $1725 + GST

Systemic Mapping is a powerful reflective tool used to illuminate problematic issues and previously unseen dynamics in a whole new way for coaches and their clients. The coach facilitates the map-making using particular systemic principles and practices which will be learned and practiced on this intensive two day training course.

Systemic Mapping is used successfully by coaching professionals and coaching managers working one to one, as well as in in team settings. This extraordinary way of working allows us to access the clients ‘felt sense’ of issues and relationships. It is particularly useful when clients or team members are “going round and round in their heads” trying to resolve problems or disentangle themselves from the sometimes unhelpful influences of others.

Systemic Mapping is a first stage used by Constellations Practitioners when facilitating organisational or team constellations however it is also an intervention in it’s own right. This course allows you to begin to access this powerful way of working and to discover what else is possible whilst taking away useful, immediately applicable tools and skills.

This day is suitable for delegates who have coaching experience and knowledge of the principles and practices of coaching others, and are interested in expanding their knowledge and experience in a systemic approach.

This work is firmly rooted in the principle of respect for every client’s ability to explore and resolve their own issues. The coach or facilitator acts not as an advisor or manager during this type of intervention, but as a resource for safely processing and exploring issues, as well as facilitating structured reflection and gaining potential new insights.

The day will include:

  • An introduction to mapping and its broader context in Constellation work
  • Outlining the ‘stance & principles’ for the effective systemic coach or facilitator
  • Outlining when & where mapping is most/least useful
  • Discovering and trying different physical ‘tools’ for mapping
  • The importance and relevance of boundaries, orientation and distance in maps
  • Reading maps and exploring alternative perspectives or ‘lenses’
  • Mining for fresh information and revelations
  • Practice time for mapping in coaching scenarios
  • Reflections and opportunities for further learning

You will receive a Thinking Spaces Mapping Kit, and a workbook, so you will leave the course with everything you need to start systemic mapping with your clients.

Your tutor for the day is Kathy Tracey. FCIPD, M.Ed, Master Practitioner of Systemic Coaching.
